ABOUT

Here at Peace, what we believe is the foundation for everything we do and teach.

Peace Lutheran Church is affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, (LCMC), and located in Watertown, MN, just west of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We are rooted in the scriptures, and believe the Bible is the true Word of God.

Our ministry focuses on worship, education, service, the importance of family, and the love and support of each other in our daily lives. Our members share a common bond of love through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sharing the Love of Jesus Christ by Serving Our Community and the World

Our Purpose

The purpose of Peace Lutheran Church is to honor God by making more disciples for Jesus Christ.  We accomplish our purpose together through these heartfelt strategies:

  • Putting God first in everything, seeking through prayer, worship, and teaching to glorify God in all that we do.

  • Reaching out by equipping believers in sharing their faith and providing ministries that bring people to Christian faith.

  • Helping Christians grow and experience spiritual transformation as they learn and apply God’s truth to their lives.

  • Organizing for effectiveness by providing structures, resources, and leadership to encourage high-quality volunteer-led ministry.

  • Blessing others through sharing God’s goodness to us by starting and equipping churches, pursuing ministries of compassion, and helping others fully experience God’s grace.

The Story of Peace ...

it's just the beginning

Peace future home sign.

The first worship service was held on August 1, 2010 at Watertown Community Center. Interim Pastor Bruce Nelson agreed to accept the challenge of helping form a new church. His faith and quiet leadership allowed Peace to move forward, along the path which God intended.

Charter Sunday was on January 9, 2011, when 112 adults and children became Charter Members of Peace. Shortly thereafter, the first congregational annual meeting was held, and Peace decided to affiliate with the LCMC (Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ).

Peace welcomed its first full-time pastor on January 1, 2012. Pastor Shannon Bauer was ordained and installed at a special service, which was officiated by Pastor Bruce Nelson.

The congregation soon felt it was time to have their own church home. Following a generous donation of land, monetary contributions from a successful Capital Campaign Fund Drive, and hard work by many, an Implementation Team was formed to help guide the building program. Construction on our new church building began in August of 2012, and the first worship service was held on December 23, 2012.

As the church continued to grow, it soon became clear that more space was needed.  Plans were developed to add a Fellowship Hall and Sunday school classrooms.  The construction began in 2016 and by the fall, everyone was enjoying the new expansion.  Preliminary planning has already begun for a third expansion as Peace Lutheran looks forward to what wondrous things God has planned for us.

God has worked in amazing ways in the life of Peace Lutheran Church. We continue to move forward, eager to show others the wondrous ways He can work in their lives, too.

Visitors are always welcome. Peace!
